Conner, how long have you been at AppFolio?

I started here in May 2014.

Tell us a bit about how you arrived at AppFolio?

My former roommate (since married) worked in the Sales department and invited me out to Fig Mountain Brewery to meet some fellow co-workers. Little did I know, the person I was hanging out with that night was secretly vetting me as a candidate for the Websites Team. I had been building the website for the AS Food Bank at UCSB, and already knew a lot of AppFolians, so I was a good fit in her eyes.

What’s the most gratifying thing about your position?

Personal/professional development. I get a lot of satisfaction from learning how I can grow as a person; and, thankfully, I’m a part of a team (boss included) who helps me to learn the skills I want to grow in.

What do you like about working at AppFolio?

Personal relationships, laughter, and wanting to come to work when I wake up.

What is your favorite moment at AppFolio and why?

My favorite Appfolio-related moment is when I invited my coworkers to come to a concert I was playing in. The house was packed and the applause was crazy.

I remember looking out into the audience and seeing a mix of cheering from strangers and so many Appfoli-friends.

Tell us a little about your personal background. Where you are from, family life, etc.

I’m from Lancaster, CA. My sister and I moved out here for college and we’re only about 15 minutes apart by car at this point. My family is really into hugs and trying to make each other feel loved. Since I’m the youngest, I really look up to my mom/dad/sister for most things. I call my mom and dad a lot for support, which is great when you want to feel warm.

What’s something really interesting or unique you’d like to share?

I love interviews. Like Inside the Actors Studio where James Lipton peels back the layers of Dave Chappelle, or when Krista Tippett digs into the role of topics like Purpose/Presence/Kindness in our everyday life. I also really like collecting quotes, and writing down my own.
