Google dominates the search engine market, so it is important for property managers to take advantage of every listing opportunity with Google that is available. Google+ Local is linked to Google+ business pages, and is a replacement for what was formerly known as Google Places. To setup Google+ Local, simply find “Google Places for Business”, activate the account and fill out all of the necessary information.

The following fields are available:

  • Contact information/location
  • Description
  • Category
  • Hours
  • Payment Options (more applicable if you are a retail store)
  • Photos
  • Videos
  • Additional Details

If you are a property management business looking to advertise your services, then focus on appealing to landlords and building owners with your listing. Or, if you’d like to use Google+ Local to advertise your property vacancies, you can include location information as well as important details about the properties and their amenities.

Once Google+ Local is set up, you also have a greater opportunity to connect with prospective clients (property owners), and potential residents online through the Google+ Pages, where each new vacancy can be posted, along with photos and videos. It also creates a venue for you to communicate with those who have questions about your offerings.

In addition to using Google+, start engaging online by taking advantage of:

  • Facebook (Pages)
  • Twitter
  • YouTube (for posting video tours of vacant property units)

By using all of these services, you will find that you reach a wider audience, and that can only help improve your property management business and show the public exactly who you are. Social media tools can improve your credibility, exposure, and generally open up a greater dialogue between your business and those that can benefit it!
