As Managing Director, my day-to-day priorities revolve around capital raising, deal sourcing, strategic oversight, and investor relations. I work closely with our acquisitions, asset management, and investor services teams to ensure we execute our business plan.
During my time here at IDEAL, I’m most proud of how we’ve built a firm that’s not only generated outstanding returns but has also created a loyal, engaged investor community. We’ve navigated market cycles with discipline, and our ability to consistently deliver for our partners stands as a testament to the quality of our people and processes.
Our investor base consists of over 1,200 active investors, encompassing high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and select institutional partners. This diversity requires robust communication tools and tailored reporting because we’ve seen that our high-net-worth individuals often prefer simplified, transparent updates, while institutional partners require deeper dives into data and strategy.
Our guiding philosophy is centered on capital preservation, tax efficiency, and disciplined growth. We believe in creating wealth for our investors through stable cash-flowing properties and long-term capital appreciation, which offers durable demand fundamentals and resilience across cycles.
What sets us apart is that we coinvest substantially alongside our investors. We will never do a deal that we wouldn’t personally invest in ourselves, and we focus on markets where we have deep operating expertise. Our approach is to think like owners, not just managers.
As we scaled, manual processes became a bottleneck. Our investors expect seamless communication, timely reporting, and accurate distributions. We recognized that technology was essential to enhance efficiency, reduce risk, and deliver a premium investor experience.
We aimed to solve manual reporting processes that were time-consuming and error-prone, inefficient CRM systems that hindered personalized engagement, and the need for secure document management. Many investor questions can now be answered directly through the investor portal, like retrieving tax documents or checking distribution history.
We chose AppFolio because it offers an integrated, investor-first platform. It handles everything from CRM to document management. The user-friendly interface was also a big factor.
