Interview with Jen Stedman, Implementation Services Manager

Where are you from?
I grew up in the beautiful land of lakes and snow, AKA Minnesota, and moved out to Santa Barbara to attend Westmont College.

Tell us a bit about your professional background. How did you arrive at AppFolio?
After college, I worked as a leasing agent for a small family-owned property management company in Boulder, CO. I missed the ocean and decided to move back to California. At that time, I got a CA salesperson real estate license and worked as a property supervisor for a large property management company in Santa Barbara. Next, my career path took a turn when I accepted a project management position at a local tech-company. I always wanted to go back to school and further my education. I received a masters degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. When I moved back to Santa Barbara after grad school, I heard about this AMAZING company AppFolio from two friends who had recently started working there. It sounded like the perfect marriage of my property management and tech experience and I couldn’t wait to apply.

What’s most gratifying about your position?
Transitioning software can be a stressful experience. We work hard to try and make it as easy and seamless as possible. It is very rewarding assisting customers through this transition. We have an incredible implementation team at AppFolio! It’s a pleasure working with highly motivated, hard working, intelligent teammates that continue to challenge and motivate me.

How long have you been at AppFolio?
Almost three years and I love it more and more every day!

What do you like about working at AppFolio?
The people I work with make coming to work a pleasure. I enjoy the Company culture, our future-focused technology, and a leadership team with vision and integrity, to name a few.

What was your favorite moment at AppFolio and why?
I had the privilege of attending the last AppFolio Customer Conference. It was such a pleasure to meet customers I helped during the implementation process in person. I also had a blast at the genius bar assisting customers with questions face-to-face. It was very impactful hearing customers share how AppFolio has streamlined their business and improved their lives!

What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Santa Barbara is such a vibrant and beautiful city to live in. I love going down to the harbor for clam chowder, heading out to the valley for wine tasting, and hiking in the mountains.

Tell us about your family.
My parents are great role models. They have been happily married for over 35 years. They are so encouraging, positive and supportive. My brother and his wife just welcomed their first child Bennett in October 2014. I love being an aunt!
